With profound sadness, family, friends, and the community of Fredericton mourn the passing of Randy Eric Dickinson, who passed away on May 18, 2026, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital at the age of 71. His death marks the loss of a remarkable leader, advocate, and humanitarian whose lifelong work transformed the lives of countless Canadians.
Born on June 23, 1954, in Woodstock, Randy dedicated his life to championing accessibility, equality, and human rights for people living with disabilities. Throughout his distinguished career, he served as Executive Director of organizations including Camp Rotary and Easter Seals New Brunswick, and also became the founding Executive Director of the Premier’s Council for Disabled Persons.
Randy played a key role in shaping both the New Brunswick Accessibility Act and the Federal Accessible Canada Act, leaving behind a legacy of lasting change across the country. His extraordinary contributions earned him some of Canada’s highest honors, including appointment to the Order of Canada in 1999 and the Order of New Brunswick in 2022.
Beyond his achievements, Randy was known for his kindness, compassion, and dedication to service. He actively volunteered with York Sunbury Search and Rescue and supported numerous charities. Loved ones remember him as a devoted husband, family man, and a friend whose wisdom and generosity touched everyone around him.
A Celebration of Life for Randy Dickinson will be held on May 31, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at McAdam’s Funeral Home, with Words of Tribute beginning at 3:00 p.m. Accessible parking and livestream arrangements will be available.
